To NY and back...

A month has come and gone and has been very busy. Soon after Mary and the crew left April's brother Adam came to OH for 2 weeks to visit. It was a time of work and play. The boys loved playing with their uncle, and taking them to Chuckie Cheese also made him a hit. After he left it was time to celebrate April's birthday. She and I spent the evening on the town with dinner at The Cheesecake Factory and then a movie. It is the first time in a while we have gotten out alone so it was nice. Then a few days later we were packing to head to NY to visit Oma and Gramps. However for those who don't know it was not a smooth start. We headed to the airport on Thursday afternoon with 3 kids and a car full of suitcases just to find out our flight was delayed and overbooked. Seems NY had just had some weather that cancelled a few flights and stranded people as a result so the flights were full. Since we did not check in until we got to the airport we did not get assigned seats at check in....so we did not have seats. So as they asked for volunteers to get off the flight and leave Saturday morning, we took the chance. Getting some free tickets helped us make the decision. So we headed back home to wait until Saturday morning, very early Saturday morning. We had to be at the airport by 5am. Talk about an adventure with 3 kids not all the way awake...but they made it. Once in NY it was go right from the start. April and I met Pete and Amy in the city while the kids went to Oma and Gramps's with Gramps. We had a great time in the city showing April the sites. We went to central park, walked the brooklyn bridge, battery park to see Lady Liberty then to Canal street and dinner in little Italy and many sights in between.

We took her on the subway and in a taxi. Stopped to pay our respects at ground zero and more. It was a fun...long...day and by the time we got home we were ready to sleep. The rest of the week we went to the beach, celebrated Connor's birthday, rode a train, merry go round, ate NY pizza, went to the movies, relaxed and of course played. The boys loved playing with their cousins Elliot and Malachi. They all got along well and played lots of soccer. It was fun to have the whole family together again and now that we have some free tickets we may go visit the cousins in Colorado.
Now we are back home and trying to get back into the swing of things. I am finally caught up after missing a week of work and the boys are being the boys. Sophie is crawling and getting into everything. She also already has an attitude of her own and knows how to use it. She turned 1 last Sunday and we are having a party this weekend so I will be blogging about that separately. And now we are getting set to send Ethan to kindergarten in just a few short weeks. It is hard to believe our first is already off to school, it all goes by so fast. He is very excited and his reading is improving everyday. We know he will do great.
Well it is late and I have been rambling. It has been a few weeks and I just wanted to get everyone caught up. Thanks for stopping by and goodnight.
