food
t and i have recently realized how much unnecessary chemicals we were eating just in our everyday foods. two main culprits: high fructose corn syrup and partially hydroginated oil. i challenge anyone to go to the grocery store and find a snack or chip that doesn't have either or both of those ingredients in them. it is quite the task. we did find one snack: goldfish. we also found a line of chips: frito lays has a naturals line. there are cheetos and blue chips that are really good. so instead of buying already made snacks, i am challenging myself to bake more, at least then i will know what is going into our snacks. we also realized that there aren't very many breads that don't have those chemicals in them either, so i have started making our own bread. i am still trying out different recipes but am really enjoying it! we also have entered into the realm of making our own pizza. i am enjoying this also. not quite sure why i have waited so long to do this, but it feels really good. we are also being more mindful of eating fruits and veggies, which our veggies pretty much consist of salad and carrot sticks, since that is what the kids will eat, but it is at least a start. why eat unnecessary chemicals if we don't have to? i'm not saying that we are going to be anti-fun food, we enjoy food too much around here to be able to do that, but we are trying to be more mindful on a normal day to day basis. here are a few things i have baked recently. we are at the very beginning stages of this process, but hopefully we can continue on this journey as a family long-term....i'm enjoying it.

yummy! my sister got me this great cook book for Christmas called "Deceptively Delicious"! it is so great. I made these brownies the other day that had carrots and spinach in them and NO ONE KNEW!!! all of the recipes have veggies in them! Check it out! We love it!
our family is healthier b/c of the food choices we started to make over a year ago. It's a lot of baby steps, but we changed one thing at a time!!! Good Luck on this new challenge. Amy has a couple great bread recipes she's gotten from me!
